Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted receives “Golden Buffalo” mascot

BAC NINH - At the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s national center for education and talent, the Vietnamese International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) team, led by Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Thu Ha of Hanoi University of Science and Technology on November 10 offered incense and presented the team’s “Golden Buffalo” mascot to Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.

Over the years, Vietnam’s IChO teams have achieved outstanding results in international competitions, winning a total of 113 medals, including 45 golds.

In 2025, all four members of the Vietnamese team earned gold medals at the on-site Olympiad held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Among them, Ngo Quang Minh from Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted achieved the highest score among Vietnamese participants and ranked seventh globally.

This marks the third consecutive year that Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted has produced a gold medalist in the International Chemistry Olympiad - Nguyen Huu Tien Hung in 2024 and Nguyen Kim Giang in 2023.

To honor the school’s consistent excellence and its students’ remarkable achievements, the Vietnamese IChO team decided to cast and present the “Golden Buffalo” mascot to Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted.

The mascot symbolizes diligence, perseverance and youthful passion - qualities that drive Vietnamese students to excel in national and international intellectual competitions.
