Vehicles carrying fresh lychee for export are provided with separate parking lots. |
These days, the number of vehicles transporting lychee has rapidly increased, reaching approximately 20 to 30 trucks per day at peak times.
According to a representative of the Management Board of Lao Cai Economic Zone, since June 10 when Bac Ninh lychee enters the main crop, the flow of vehicles transporting this commodity through Kim Thanh International Border Gate No 2 will rise to 70 to 100 trucks per day.
In early May, the Management Board of Lao Cai Economic Zone discussed the plan to implement traffic diversion and arrange personnel to handle customs clearance procedures 45 to 60 minutes prior to the opening time of the border gate with a priority to fresh agricultural products, especially fresh lychee, so that they can be cleared in the morning, minimizing any impact on product quality.
Under the current traffic regulation plan, vehicles transporting fresh lychee to the border gate are guided and supported by 24/7 on-duty border guard forces to gather at a designated parking area with a capacity of approximately 100 trucks.
After completing customs documentation, the vehicles are moved directly to the inspection area for export clearance procedures.
The process is widely publicized, enabling traders to proactively prepare required documents and minimize arising issues.
“Vehicles carrying fresh agricultural products for export are provided with prioritized lanes, allowing them to complete custom clearance in early morning to ensure product quality. Besides, we worked with the Border Gate Management Board of Hekou district, Yunnan province, China regarding time and volume of lychee exported through Kim Thanh border gate to seek support from Chinese agencies for traffic regulation and quick custom clearance procedures”, said Vuong Trinh Quoc, Head of the Management Board of the provincial Economic Zone.

When major lychee orchards in Bac Ninh and some other nothern provinces enter peak harvest time, the volume of vehicles flocking to Kim Thanh International Border Gate No 2 is predicted to continue increasing in coming weeks.
With proactive preparations and flexible coordination measures, the relevant authorities are making efforts to ensure smooth flow of exports.
This contributes to delivering Vietnam’s fresh and premium lychees to the Chinese market in the shortest time, while maintaining their value and further enhancing the reputation of Vietnamese agricultural products in global market.
