The relationship between Vietnam and Japan is at its best ever and the two countries have substantial potential and opportunities to expand and deepen their friendship and mutual trust, a Vietnamese Party official has said.

Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Byeong-Seug expressed their support for upgrading the relationship between the two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership during their talks in Seoul on December 13.

Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s official visit to Russia comes at a time when Vietnam and Russia have marked their 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties (in 2020) and held a friendship year on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the treaty on fundamental principles of the Vietnam-Russia friendship and the 20th anniversary of the joint statement on the Vietnam-Russia strategic partnership.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc has expressed his hope that his upcoming visit to Russia will contribute to creating new momentum and breakthroughs to further deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s upcoming official visit to Japan from November 22-25 is expected to lift the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership to a new height.
