According to the young artisan, Ngoi village ceramics are relatively new compared with long-established Vietnamese brands such as Bat Trang, Quyet and Chu Dau ceramics, having been on the market for just over a decade.

The sacred Yen Tu mountain range and King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong are depicted in a ceramic relief titled “Quang Ninh – Vietnam heritage and world heritage” at the Bai Chay tourist area in Quang Ninh province.

Despite its short history, the craft has established its own identity through its simple, rustic yet distinctive style, characterised by two signature elements: the “pickled-melon” glaze and the natural clay body.

A key feature is the use of simple brown stoneware to recreate images of Vietnam’s traditional folk culture. This approach has given Ngoi village ceramics a distinctive appeal.

Ceramic paintings are among the most popular products. The large wall panels are made by assembling thick, relief ceramic pieces, some of which are up to 10 cm thick.
