Updated: 14:51, 06/10/2025

BAC NINH – The People’s Committee of Yen Tu ward in coordination with the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Quang Ninh province and the Yen Tu Relic and Scenic Site Management Board on October 5 held the opening ceremony of the Yen Tu Autumn Festival 2025 themed “Meditative autumn hues.”

The event drew representatives from the Quang Ninh provincial National Assembly delegation, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, journalists from Hai Phong and Bac Ninh, and large numbers of monks, nuns, Buddhists and local residents.

The festival took place as the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac complex has just been recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site.

It also celebrates the success of Quang Ninh’s 16th Provincial Party Congress and looks ahead to the 14th National Party Congress.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates and visitors offered incense and prayers for national peace and prosperity, and took part in cultural and spiritual activities such as the “Sunrise on Dong Pagoda Peak” tour, tea meditation and walking meditation.

The programme also featured art performances honoring heritage values, an award ceremony for the Yen Tu ward logo design contest, the launch of a literary and media creation competition on Yen Tu, and the introduction of the VR360 digital tourism product showcasing Yen Tu relics, Hang Son temple and the Ho – Xep Bang cave system.

From now until December 2025, a series of cultural, sports and tourism events will continue, including the Yen Tu Heritage Marathon – “Touch the Heritage Land” (Nov 15–16, 2025), the “Yen Tu Chess King” championship, bonsai and ornamental creature festivals, the “Sacred Sound of Yen Tu” art show, and a memorial marking the 717th anniversary of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong’s attainment of Nirvana.

The Yen Tu Autumn Festival 2025 conveys a powerful message of pride and sustainable development through the theme “Proud of the heritage – Living with the heritage – Enriching from the heritage.”

The festival also marks an important step toward developing Yen Tu into a “four-season tourism” destination and a model of “heritage-based sustainable economy.”

The Yen Tu relic and scenic complex stretches across the Yen Tu mountain range in northeastern Vietnam, encompassing hundreds of historical and spiritual sites recognized at the national and special national levels, such as Yen Tu, Tran Dynasty relics in Dong Trieu, Bach Dang, Con Son–Kiep Bac, Thanh Mai pagoda, An Phu–Kinh Chu–Nham Duong in Hai Phong, as well as Vinh Nghiem and Bo Da pagodas in Bac Ninh.

In Bac Ninh province, both Vinh Nghiem and Bo Da pagodas were listed as special national relics, housing unique cultural treasures that meet UNESCO’s heritage criteria.

The western slopes of the Yen Tu range in Bac Ninh still preserve many religious and historical structures tied to the nation’s formation and defense. The combination of ancient temples, towers, and rich natural landscapes makes the area a vital asset for cultural promotion and tourism development.
