This information was announced by the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism at a press conference on August 17.

The festival will be held under the theme “Yen Tu – Meditative autumn colours”.

This is the first large-scale, months-long autumn festival to be organised in Yen Tu Ward, accompanied by a series of distinctive cultural and spiritual activities.

It is being held in celebration of the inscription of the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Landscapes as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.

With the theme “Yen Tu – Meditative autumn colours”, the festival seeks to spread the spirit of the Truc Lam Zen sect, a uniquely Vietnamese school of Zen Buddhism founded by Emperor Tran Nhan Tong.

It also aims to create distinctive autumn tourism products, promoting the image of Yen Tu as a destination rich in identity, serene and contemplative in the hearts of visitors from far and wide.

All activities will be conducted with solemnity, imbued with national cultural identity, and in a safe and effective manner, contributing to a sustainable cultural–tourism space.

They will also help connect communities and promote the image of Yen Tu Ward – a newly established locality – as an attractive stop on the journey to explore a World Cultural Heritage site.

The Yen Tu Autumn Festival is not only a highlight in efforts to stimulate autumn tourism – traditionally a low season – but also marks a new step in preserving and promoting the values of Truc Lam Buddhist heritage.

It further contributes to building Yen Tu’s distinctive spiritual and meditative tourism brand, advancing Quang Ninh’s strategy of developing “four-season tourism”.

Bac Ninh promotes value of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac heritage complex

BAC NINH - The Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex has officially been inscribed on UNESCO’s World Cultural Heritage List, marking Vietnam’s ninth world heritage site. Two of the 12 component sites recognised within the heritage complex are located in Bac Ninh province: Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and Bo Da Pagoda.

Vietnam’s Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Scenic Landscape Complex has been officially inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List at the 47th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee held recently in France. This marks Vietnam’s 9th World Heritage site recognised by UNESCO and the second trans-provincial heritage site, following Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago (which spans Quang Ninh Province and Hai Phong City).
