Bac Giang Provincial Party chief Duong Van Thai works with Governor of Japan’s Chiba prefecture
Thai, who is also head of the provincial delegation of National Assembly deputies, informed his hosts about the socio-economic development situation of Bac Giang in recent years, especially its impressive economic growth in 2023, making the province among the top in Vietnam.

He said that in 2023, Vietnam and Japan organised many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations and officially upgraded their ties to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World.
“This is an important foundation for Japanese localities and businesses to continue to develop cooperation with Vietnamese peers, including Bac Giang province,” he noted.

According to the provincial leader, the province is now home to 27 projects of Japanese enterprises with total investment capital of more than 321 million USD. Two-way trade in 2023 between Bac Giang province and Japan reached 3.1 billion USD. In addition, cultural and educational exchange activities between the province and Japanese partners have been regularly organised, helping Bac Giang people deeper their understanding of the country, culture and people of Japan.
Bac Giang province is supporting AEON Co., Ltd – a famous Japanese company from Chiba prefecture to study investment in a regional-scale shopping mall in Bac Giang. Thai said he expects that during this visit, the two localities will set up a good relationship, creating favourable conditions for investors from Japan and Chiba prefecture to learn about Bac Giang’s investment, production and business environment.
For more information about Bac Giang province, the provincial Party chief respectfully invited the Governor to lead a delegation from Chiba prefecture to visit Bac Giang at an appropriate time.
At the working session, Governor Kumagai Toshihito highly valued the goodwill of Bac Giang province when choosing Chiba as its destination during the Japan visit.

Chiba prefecture strongly develops industry and agriculture, he said, adding it also boasts strengths in fisheries and medical fields.
The Governor hoped that more goods from Chiba will be exported to Vietnam, including Bac Giang, and Chiba businesses will cooperate with the Vietnamese locality in this field.
He expressed his joy when AEON chose Bac Giang province for considering shopping mall investment. This will also be a bridge to establish a good relationship between the two localities.
