At the municipal Social Protection Facility, colourful star-shaped lanterns, music and children's laughter filled the normally quiet surroundings during a 2026 Mid-Autumn Festival programme jointly organised by the facility, FPT Bac Giang Primary, Lower Secondary and High School, the Bac Giang Ward Youth Union and other partners.

Children receiving care and treatment at the facility took part in musical performances, games, lantern processions and traditional festive activities. Many confidently performed on stage and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Do Minh Triet, a third-grade student at Giap Hai Primary School in Bac Giang Ward, said he was happy to celebrate the festival with his friends, join the lantern procession, watch performances, enjoy traditional festive food and receive gifts.

Nguyen Van Hue, Director of the municipal Social Protection Facility, said the centre is currently caring for 134 people, including 60 children with hearing and speech disabilities.

Alongside providing care and education, the facility organises cultural, artistic, sports and experiential activities to help children interact, build confidence and develop life skills.

"For children in special circumstances, occasions like the Mid-Autumn Festival not only bring joy but also give them a chance to join the wider community, play with friends and feel the care and affection of society," Hue said.

Elsewhere in the city, agencies, organisations and social groups have provided practical support to disadvantaged children.

The municipal Red Cross Society, in cooperation with Fushan Technology (Vietnam) Co Ltd, gave 50 gift packages to disadvantaged child patients at Bac Ninh No. 1 Obstetrics and Paediatrics Hospital.

Each package included 1 million VND (38 USD) in cash and a Mid-Autumn Festival gift box.

In Son Dong commune, the municipal Association for Supporting People with Disabilities and Orphans provided 30 bicycles and 30 gift packages, worth a total of 50 million VND, to disadvantaged children and students who have achieved good academic results despite difficult circumstances.

The association's Vice Chairman Than Van Truong said the bicycles would not only bring children joy during the festival but also make it easier for them to travel to school and encourage them to continue their studies.

Bac Ninh has about 970,000 children, including more than 13,000 facing difficult circumstances, according to local authorities.

For this year's festival, the Department of Health used funding from the city's Child Protection Fund and the state budget to provide 100 scholarships under the "Helping children stay in school" programme.

It also allocated more than 312 million VND to visit and give gifts to children at social protection facilities, education centres and kindergartens, as well as more than 25 million VND for blind children.

The festive atmosphere has also spread to residential neighbourhoods, where communities have organised gatherings, traditional games, lantern-making and lantern processions.

In Bo Ha Ward, the local Youth Union organised an autumn festival featuring musical performances, camping, lantern-making contests and a lantern procession, drawing children and their families to community celebrations.

Children joyfully celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival at Kinh Bac Cultural Centre in Vu Ninh Ward.

At Kinh Bac Cultural Centre Square in Vu Ninh Ward, the city Youth Union, in coordination with the Departments of Education and Training and Health and other agencies, held the "Full Moon Festival – Lanterns Lighting Up Dreams" from September 20 to 22.

The event featured lanterns, traditional toys, fruit trays, folk games and lion dances, while 5,000 gift packages were distributed to children, along with scholarships for those facing difficult circumstances.

Ha Thai Son, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Youth Union and Chairman of the municipal Youth Council, said the festival was an opportunity for organisations and authorities to pay greater attention to children, particularly those in difficult circumstances.

Through recreational activities, experiential programmes, gifts and scholarships, the organisers aimed to give children a safe and joyful Mid-Autumn Festival while encouraging them to overcome difficulties and pursue their studies and aspirations.
