Bac Ninh builds high-tech industrial ecosystem

Updated: 11:21, 07/09/2026

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh is at a key turning point as it prepares to become a centrally governed city, building on strong foreign direct investment (FDI), well-developed industrial parks and a skilled workforce to develop a high-tech industrial ecosystem and pursue sustainable growth.

As of August 21, 2026, Bac Ninh had attracted 3,697 FDI projects from 47 countries and territories, with total adjusted investment capital of 51.53 billion USD.

The processing and manufacturing sector accounted for 2,266 projects with total investment of more than 44.88 billion USD, providing an important foundation for the province to develop highly interconnected industries and deepen its participation in global production chains.

Nguyen Dinh Hieu, Director of the provincial Department of Finance, said expectations that Bac Ninh will become a city had drawn interest from international investors.

The province attracted nearly 3.8 billion USD in investment in August, taking the eight-month total to 17.69 billion USD. FDI continued to flow into electronics, semiconductor components and technology equipment for smart manufacturing.

Cooler Master Vietnam, based at the Gia Binh Industrial Park, raised its investment capital to 475 million USD to manufacture computer peripherals.

Amphenol Highspeed IO Technology Vietnam at Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park added 188.37 million USD to produce high-speed connectivity products for the information technology sector.

Fukang Technology, part of Foxconn's ecosystem, added 167 million USD to its Fukang Technology factory at Quang Chau Industrial Park, while ITM Semiconductor Vietnam added 20 million USD, bringing the total investment in its project at VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park to 258 million USD.

The figures show that Bac Ninh is not only attracting new projects but also retaining existing investors and enabling them to expand production, an important factor in developing a deeper industrial ecosystem.

Billion-dollar projects from groups including Samsung, Goertek, Amkor, Foxconn, Canon and Luxshare ICT have provided a foundation for Bac Ninh to establish a high-tech industrial ecosystem.

Industrial parks have also seen the emergence of domestic and foreign supporting companies around major investors, creating relatively complete production chains.

Yen Phong Industrial Park is a notable example. Samsung, with more than 11 billion USD in total investment, together with suppliers such as CrucialTec, Hana Micron, Intops and Orion, has helped drive Bac Ninh's rise on the global manufacturing map.

Hana Micron Vina considers Bac Ninh a long-term investment hub, with two factories and total investment of nearly 600 million USD.

Que Vo Industrial Park hosts electronics, precision engineering, telecommunications equipment and auto components, with major groups including Canon, Foster, Nippon Seiki and Goertek.

Meanwhile, Quang Chau, Van Trung and Song Khe-Noi Hoang industrial parks have focused heavily on high technology, electronic components, precision engineering and renewable energy.

These industrial "hubs" are helping shape a high-tech ecosystem in which FDI companies play a key role in building production chains, while supporting businesses gain opportunities to participate in supply chains, increase localisation and add value.

Bac Ninh's industrial production value is expected to exceed 3.07 quadrillion VND (117 billion USD) in 2026.

To ensure sustainable development of its industrial ecosystem, Bac Ninh is focusing not only on production infrastructure but also on technical and social infrastructure, transport connectivity, logistics, digital infrastructure and human resources.

According to Pham Van Thinh, Vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Bac Ninh is focusing on completing its strategic infrastructure system, particularly inter-regional transport links, next-generation industrial parks, logistics and digital infrastructure, to expand its development space and position itself to attract high-quality investment.

The province has prepared 500 hectares of cleared land in industrial parks to accommodate large-scale, high-tech projects and plans to add another 500 hectares by the end of 2026 to meet a new wave of investment.

At the same time, Bac Ninh is working with FPT Group and the National Innovation Center to promote the establishment of a Semiconductor and AI Innovation Research Center, with the aim of strengthening its position in the global semiconductor value chain.
