Trung Kenh Commune has emerged as one of the province's key production areas, with nearly 1,200 hectares of farmland, including about 800 hectares of double-crop rice fields and 400 hectares of riverside land.

In recent years, local authorities have encouraged farmers to replace rice and other crops on alluvial land with specialized carrot cultivation aimed at supplying domestic urban markets and exports to South Korea and Japan.

The commune is also promoting concentrated carrot-growing zones where mechanization, automation and greenhouse production can be widely adopted.

According to Duong Dinh Toan, Director of Trung Kenh Public Service Supply Center, the locality is applying advanced technologies throughout the production chain, from seed selection and cultivation to harvesting and processing.

The upgrades have enabled local produce to meet increasingly stringent quality standards in both domestic and demanding overseas markets like Korea and Japan among others.

Elsewhere, Luc Ngan Xanh Cooperative in Chay village of Luc Ngan Commune, with 15 members cultivating nearly 30 hectares of VietGAP-certified lychee, exports its fruit to the United States, Australia and China in addition to serving the domestic market.

Provincial officials said Bac Ninh has significant advantages for developing urban-oriented commercial agriculture, including favorable land resources, experienced producers, broad access to new technologies and strong consumer demand.

Those factors have helped the province establish concentrated production zones while increasing product quality, added value and supply-chain linkages.

The province has digitally mapped 479 large-scale production areas for key agricultural products. Four agricultural products have obtained intellectual property protection overseas, while signature products such as lychee, free-range chicken, carrots and potatoes have strengthened their market recognition.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment currently manages 315 export planting area codes covering 18,500 hectares.

early 3,000 crop, livestock and aquaculture producers have adopted advanced technologies, including 50 farms covering a combined 4,255 hectares that have been certified under VietGAP, GlobalGAP or organic standards.

Looking ahead, provincial authorities plan to further expand concentrated farming zones, increase the adoption of VietGAP and GlobalGAP production standards, and accelerate the application of high technology to improve productivity, product quality and competitiveness.
