Bac Ninh delegation visits Dongying Datang Power Plant, Shandong Hi-Speed Group

Updated: 11:05, 28/08/2026

BAC NINH - A delegation from Bac Ninh Province, led by Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, visited and held working sessions with Dongying Datang Power Plant and Shandong Hi-Speed Group in China's Shandong Province on August 27.

At Dongying Datang Power Plant in Dongying city, the delegation was received by Dang Xiang Dong, Deputy Party Secretary and General Director of the plant, along with other plant officials and representatives of relevant units.

Bac Ninh Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai and the delegation learn about the operations process at Dongying Datang Power Plant.

Plant leaders briefed the delegation on its scale, technology and power generation operations.

Technical solutions used at the Dongying Datang project have also served as a reference for designing high-efficiency generating units for the 650-MW An Khanh-Bac Giang thermal power project, which is being implemented in Bac Ninh.

The project is expected to begin operations in the third quarter of 2029, adding a large-scale power source to the province.

Secretary of the Bac Ninh provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Thai praised the plant's scale, technology and operational efficiency, particularly its measures to improve power generation efficiency, save fuel, automate production and control emissions.

As an industrial province, Bac Ninh considers ensuring power supply a top priority to maintain production and create a foundation for attracting new investment projects, Thai said.

With electricity demand rising rapidly, Bac Ninh has determined that power generation and grid infrastructure must be developed in a synchronized manner and ahead of demand, he said.

Alongside developing new power sources, the province is working with the power sector and investors on about 41 power-grid projects, with total investment estimated at 9.932 trillion VND (380.5 million USD), to improve electricity reception, transmission and distribution capacity, particularly in industrial parks and areas hosting major investment projects.

The provincial Party Chief said the operational experience of Dongying Datang offered valuable lessons for Bac Ninh in developing its energy infrastructure.

Earlier, the delegation visited and held talks with Shandong Hi-Speed Group. Shandong Hi-Speed is one of China's major transport infrastructure companies.

It has operated in Vietnam since 2008, participating in construction packages for the Hanoi-Hai Phong and Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressways and developing technical infrastructure at An Duong Industrial Park in Hai Phong, with total contract value reaching 2.373 billion CNY (353 billion USD).

The group is currently implementing several waste-to-energy and construction projects in Phu Tho, Hanoi and Thanh Hoa, while studying expressway, railway and other infrastructure projects in Vietnam. In Bac Ninh, it is working with the Vietnam Expressway Corporation to promote cooperation on the Noi Bai-Bac Ninh-Chi Linh expressway project.

Leaders of Shandong Hi-Speed Group brief the Bac Ninh delegation on the group's operations.

At the meeting, the Bac Ninh provincial leader praised Shandong Hi-Speed's scale, capabilities and experience, particularly in investing in, building and managing transport infrastructure and applying technology to operations.

Building on the results and cooperation agreements between Bac Ninh and Shandong, Bac Ninh hopes Shandong Hi-Speed will soon send a delegation to survey and explore investment opportunities in the province, particularly in areas aligned with the group's strengths and Bac Ninh's infrastructure development priorities, he said.

Bac Ninh will create the most favorable conditions within the law and accompany the group as it studies and develops suitable projects in the province, he added.
