Updated: 15:53, 14/10/2026

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh city recently held a meeting to honour outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs on the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs’ Day, which falls on October 13.

The event was attended by Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Municipal Party Committee; Nguyen Viet Oanh, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Council; and Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee (MPC).

Nguyen Hong Thai, Secretary of the Bac Ninh Municipal Party Committee, and other city leaders present flowers to representatives of the local business community.

Speaking at the event, MPC Chairman Pham Hoang Son said businesses and entrepreneurs played a pioneering role in turning potential into resources, ideas into products, opportunities into value and ambitions into tangible development achievements.

Bac Ninh has more than 40,000 operating businesses, which contribute over 93.7% of the city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) and provide jobs for more than 1 million workers, making the business community a key pillar of the local economy, he said.

In the first nine months of 2026, Bac Ninh’s GRDP grew 11.8% year-on-year, ranking fourth among Vietnam’s 34 provinces and centrally governed cities.

Municipal leaders Nguyen Hong Thai and Pham Hoang Son present certificates of merit to businesses recognised for their tax compliance.

Budget revenue exceeded 70 trillion VND (2.7 billion USD), total attracted investment reached an equivalent of 22 billion USD, and the combined value of exports and imports stood at 178 billion USD.

The local business community has made significant contributions to these results, while many companies have also participated in social welfare programmes, social housing development and poverty alleviation, helping improve living standards, he said.

Pham Hoang Son, Chairman of the Bac Ninh municipal People’s Committee, says the city will continue to support businesses and create favourable conditions for their development.

Bac Ninh aims not only to attract more large-scale investment projects but also to build a strong domestic business sector capable of mastering technology, developing its own brands and participating more deeply in global value chains.

To achieve this, the municipal leader urged businesses to renew their business models and improve management, productivity, product quality and competitiveness.

Science and technology, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and innovation should serve as key drivers of growth, he said.

Companies were also encouraged to strengthen cooperation, share resources and improve access to markets, technology and orders, while large enterprises should take a leading role in creating opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses.

Kim Iee-Soo, General Director of Samsung Electronics Vietnam, speaks at the event.

Closer links with foreign-invested enterprises, universities, training institutions and research institutes were also needed to develop a highly skilled workforce and strengthen domestic companies’ capacity to adopt and master advanced technologies.

Alongside production and business expansion, companies should uphold credibility, business ethics and corporate culture, improve workers’ welfare, protect the environment and fulfil their social responsibilities.

Business associations were urged to strengthen their role in representing members, facilitating cooperation and serving as a bridge between enterprises and local authorities, while promptly reporting difficulties and obstacles facing businesses.

For its part, the city government pledged to shift from a management-oriented approach towards enabling and serving businesses. It will accelerate administrative reforms, ensure transparent procedures and reduce compliance time and costs.

The city will also focus on removing bottlenecks involving land, planning, construction, site clearance, infrastructure and human resources.

Priorities include coordinated development of transport networks, logistics, digital infrastructure and social facilities to support investment and business expansion.

At the event, municipal leaders presented flowers to business associations representing the local business community and awarded certificates of merit from the Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee to 41 outstanding businesses and entrepreneurs for their contributions to tax compliance, business association development and social welfare activities.
