Bac Ninh leads efforts to integrate Vietnamese businesses into global supply chains

Updated: 15:03, 12/10/2026

BAC NINH - Attracting nearly 52 billion USD in investment from 47 countries and territories has helped Bac Ninh establish its local brand on the global industrial map. To retain more value added locally, the city is shifting from extensive to intensive growth, turning its foreign direct investment (FDI) ecosystem into a platform for Vietnamese businesses to participate more deeply in global value chains.

More than a decade ago, Alpha Vietnam Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company, based in Bac Giang ward, primarily manufactured steel structures for the construction industry.

From contract manufacturing, Alpha Vietnam gradually moved into high-tech engineering products and took part in the construction of numerous large-scale projects.

The company has developed robots for CNC cutting machines, as well as designed, manufactured and installed welding and positioning robots and machined components for electric cars.

It subsequently expanded into automatic machinery, industrial robots, conveyor systems and production lines.

Precision mechanical manufacturing at Automech Mechanical Equipment and Solutions JSC in Dinh Tram Industrial Park.

Another milestone came in December 2025, when Alpha Vina and Japan’s Taiho Group established Alpha Taiho Vietnam Co., Ltd. to manufacture and supply equipment and components for automated production lines serving multinational corporations, including Canon.

Automech’s development illustrates a similar trajectory. Since its establishment in 2020, Automech Mechanical Equipment and Solutions Joint Stock Company has identified technology, innovation and automation as the foundations of its growth.

From a newly established business, the company has expanded to operate two factories in Dinh Tram Industrial Park and Vietnam-Japan Industrial Cluster.

Automech now manufactures automotive body components for VinFast, machines frames and jigs for KIM LONG MOTOR, and supplies machinery and production solutions for container bodies to Hoa Phat Group.

Hanel PT NextTech JSC has pursued a different path in high-tech electronics. The company has developed and commercialised a range of electronic components and audio devices requiring high levels of technical precision, including ultra-small piezoelectric buzzers, ceramic actuator components and ultrasonic motors for camera lenses, medical equipment and semiconductor devices.

Producing a high-quality product is only a necessary first step. To become a supplier to major corporations, businesses must clear another hurdle: the technical standards and stringent requirements imposed by global supply chains.

Industry experience shows that entering these supply chains requires more than product precision.

Companies must maintain control over product and raw material quality and traceability, ensure delivery schedules and fulfilment capacity, meet environmental and governance requirements, and comply with an increasingly wide range of standards set by international customers. This is a race with no finish line.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, despite notable progress, many businesses in Bac Ninh and across Vietnam still account for only a small share of supply chains.

This presents a broader question for Bac Ninh: having established a large ecosystem of foreign-invested enterprises, how can the province enable more Vietnamese businesses to enter higher-value segments of the supply chain?

Ultimately, the goal of supporting industries is not simply to establish more companies, build more factories or develop more products.

More importantly, it is to determine how many stages of production Vietnamese businesses can master, how many products they can supply, and how much value they can retain within the production chains already operating in their homeland.
