Bac Ninh man donates proceeds from art sale to support poor households for Lunar New Year
BAC NINH - Bui Van Quan, born in 1992 and owner of the “Happy Garden” in Hop Thinh commune, Bac Ninh province, has donated 200 million VND (about 8,800 USD) to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Youth Union organisations in the communes of Hop Thinh, Hoang Van, Xuan Cam and Hiep Hoa to provide Lunar New Year gifts for poor and disadvantaged households.
The donation came from the sale of Quan’s art piece titled “Compassionate Horse,” a symbolic sculpture he personally created with the aim of spreading a spirit of sharing within the community.

The artwork was purchased by a female entrepreneur from Tuyen Quang province. Quan said from the outset that “Compassionate Horse” was intended to be sold to raise funds for charity, unlike his other two zodiac sculptures for the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse, “Joyful Horse” and “Happy Horse.”
Originally trained as a bridge and road engineer, Quan later returned to his hometown to develop a farm-based business. His journey into art began when he started creating cartoon-inspired figures by hand to serve as gifts and recreational spaces. Over the past three years, his garden has gradually become a popular destination for local children and residents.

Previously, during the 2025 Lunar New Year, Quan’s “Happy Snake” sculpture attracted widespread attention on social media and became a unique check-in spot.
He has also made a strong impression with other works such as “Young Dragon” and the installation “Happy Vietnam,” conveying messages of patriotism and love for the homeland and the nation’s seas and islands.
