BAC NINH – Pham Van Thinh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) and Head of the province’s National Assembly delegation, held talks with Nanning Urban Rail Transit Group during his working trip to Nanning, China, on September 18.

The Bac Ninh delegation also attended the Nanning Friendship City – Nanning–Hanoi Economic Corridor 2025 Exchange Conference and signed a renewed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nanning People’s Government, under the name of the newly established Bac Ninh province.

At the meeting with the leadership of Nanning Urban Rail Transit Group, General Director Zhou Tian Zhong warmly welcomed Bac Ninh leaders and delegates.

The Group, a state-owned enterprise, is tasked with developing the rail transit system in Nanning and surrounding areas. Since 2012, it has invested in five metro lines with a total capital of about 2.5 billion USD, which were completed in 2016.

PPC Vice Chairman Thinh expressed his appreciation for the warm reception and praised the modern and synchronized development of Nanning’s high-speed urban railway system, particularly the application of artificial intelligence in management and operations.

He extended a sincere invitation for the Group’s executives to visit Bac Ninh to explore potential cooperation in developing an urban rail transit system in the province.

Later the same day, Bac Ninh provincial leader and the delegation joined the Nanning Friendship City – Nanning–Hanoi Economic Corridor 2025 Exchange Conference. At the event, Bac Ninh renewed its MoU with the Nanning People’s Government.

The conference served as a platform for dialogue with leaders from ASEAN localities, focusing on promoting high-quality urban development through artificial intelligence. Delegates discussed building a new model of China–ASEAN cooperation in AI-powered urban planning and infrastructure.

The exchange highlighted opportunities for Bac Ninh to deepen economic and technological ties with Nanning and with China more broadly. As one of Vietnam’s dynamic provinces in industrial growth and investment attraction, Bac Ninh is seeking modern transport solutions to support its rapid urbanization.

Cooperation with a partner experienced in large-scale urban railway systems such as Nanning Urban Rail Transit Group is seen as a valuable opportunity.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Bac Ninh officials emphasized that the renewed MoU with Nanning reflects both sides’ determination to strengthen long-standing friendship and expand cooperation in fields of mutual interest, especially smart urban development.

The conference also underlined the broader objective of enhancing connectivity within the Nanning–Hanoi Economic Corridor, a key component of regional integration between Vietnam, China, and ASEAN.

The trip was both symbolic and practical, aiming to tighten ties with Nanning while exploring concrete avenues for cooperation that can contribute to Vietnam–China relations and ASEAN connectivity.
