Bac Ninh seeks stronger links between domestic firms and FDI enterprises

BAC NINH – Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Mai Son on July 9 afternoon chaired a meeting with provincial departments, foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises, supporting industry, and sci-tech companies to discuss solutions for promoting science, technology, and innovation.

At the meeting, Kim Yong Sup, Deputy General Director for External Affairs at Samsung Vietnam, reaffirmed that Samsung Vietnam is committed to creating opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in its global value chain.

He proposed that the Vietnamese government introduce preferential policies and support mechanisms for domestic enterprises.

Specifically, he suggested that Bac Ninh province support workforce training initiatives and facilitate the company’s cooperation with the Vietnam–Korea College of Technology in Bac Giang to establish a joint high-tech workforce training centre.

Kim also expressed his hope that the Bac Ninh provincial People's Committee and relevant authorities would continue implementing policies that facilitate connections between Samsung, local enterprises, and educational institutions to attract high-quality talent capable of meeting the demands of advanced technology and modern manufacturing.

Lee Pan Chan, business manager of Goertek Vina Science and Technology Co., Ltd., proposed that the province establish a database of qualified Vietnamese suppliers to facilitate business matching, networking, and cooperation.

He also noted that Goertek Vina is actively expanding collaboration with local enterprises to strengthen the local supply chain and promote sustainable development.

Representatives of FDI enterprises also recommended that the province continue improving transportation infrastructure and expanding public transportation services for workers.

In addition, they called for continued investment in developing a highly skilled workforce, particularly in engineering and research and development (R&D); establishing a database of supporting industry enterprises to strengthen linkages; and further improving transport infrastructure, logistics, and the manufacturing ecosystem to enable greater cooperation between FDI enterprises and local peers.

Concluding the event, Mai Son emphasised that the meeting provided an important opportunity for science and technology enterprises, vendors in Bac Ninh, Samsung Vietnam, and other major FDI companies to discuss practical solutions for advancing science and technology development in the province.

A representative of Alpha Vina Mechanical and Automation JSC talks about challenges in cooperation with FDI enterprises.

He stated that the primary objective is to help Bac Ninh enterprises strengthen cooperation with Korean partners in particular and with FDI firms in general.

The provincial People's Committee reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with both FDI enterprises and local businesses to identify solutions for increasing the localisation rate of products manufactured by FDI companies.

The province will also continue investing in transportation infrastructure, ensuring a stable electricity supply, enhancing human resource development, and strengthening partnerships between FDI enterprises, universities, and vocational training institutions to meet the growing demand for high-quality talent.
