The province has favourable conditions for rooftop solar, with an average of about 1,530-1,776 hours of sunshine a year and extensive rooftop space at industrial parks, industrial clusters, factories, shopping centres, government offices and residential areas.

Industrial facilities are seen as having the greatest potential, in line with efforts to supply electricity directly to production activities.

Expanding rooftop solar at government offices and public service units could provide practical models and raise awareness of efficient energy use in the public sector. For households, the large number of potential users offers broad scope for distributed generation.

Provincial support policies from 2026, particularly support for battery storage systems, are expected to provide further momentum.

The province's large number of foreign-invested enterprises and companies involved in global supply chains is also driving demand for renewable energy, lower carbon emissions and greener production.

These requirements are becoming increasingly important for manufacturing, business operations and investment attraction in Bac Ninh, encouraging companies to shift to cleaner energy sources.

Bac Ninh currently has 1,574 rooftop solar installations in operation, with a combined capacity of about 315.24 MW, highlighting the province's significant remaining potential for expansion.

The industrial sector is expected to remain the main driver of installed capacity, while public institutions and households will help broaden and diversify clean-energy use, supporting the development of a green, safe and sustainable energy system.

Bac Ninh installs more than 89 MW of rooftop solar power
