Bac Ninh upgrades power infrastructure to boost investor appeal
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province, one of Vietnam’s leading destinations for foreign direct investment, is stepping up investment in power infrastructure to ensure reliable electricity supply for production and business, aiming to attract more domestic and foreign investors.
In 2025, Bac Ninh continues to rank among the country’s top localities for FDI inflows, supported by efforts to improve the investment and business environment and leverage its comparative advantages.

Pearl Global Vietnam Co. Ltd., based in Bac Giang ward, has installed a rooftop solar power system to save electricity and cut operating costs. |
Provincial authorities say proactive investment in electricity infrastructure is a key pillar in sustaining industrial growth and meeting rising demand from manufacturers.
On January 16, after more than a month of accelerated construction, Bac Ninh Power Company successfully energised the Dong Phuc Industrial Park 1 substation in Dong Viet commune, with a capacity of 400 kVA.
The facility is intended to secure immediate power supply for land clearance and infrastructure development at the Dong Phuc Industrial Park.
Beyond this project, the power sector is rolling out a series of large-scale, synchronised generation and grid developments to ensure safe and stable electricity supply for socio-economic development and daily life. These projects are focused on industrial parks, urban areas and zones with rapidly increasing power loads.
New investments reflect the electricity sector’s proactive approach and close coordination with local authorities. In 2025 alone, Bac Ninh host 13 major power generation and transmission projects at the 500 kV and 220 kV levels.
These included one power plant and its connecting transmission line, one 500 kV substation and transmission line project, five 220 kV substations and six 220 kV transmission line connection projects.
The province has already broken ground and constructed several projects, such as the Bac Ninh 500 kV substation, the Bac Ninh 5 220 kV substation, the Yen Dung 220 kV substation and the project connecting An Khanh Power Plant to the national grid.
Authorities say these projects play a critical role in enhancing transmission capacity, increasing power supply, strengthening regional grid connectivity and ensuring energy security for Bac Ninh and neighbouring provinces.
In addition, the province is implementing 30 projects in the 110 kV grid network, focusing on expanding and upgrading existing substations, building new substations and renovating transmission lines.
These upgrades are designed to improve supply capacity and ensure stable electricity for key industrial zones and high-growth areas such as Quang Chau, Song Khe–Noi Hoang, Gia Binh and Yen Phong.
At the distribution level, Bac Ninh is also rolling out 165 medium- and low-voltage grid projects, with total investment estimated at about 2.884 trillion VND (126.1 million USD).
To date, 95 of these projects have been completed and put into operation, while the remaining projects are being fast-tracked to meet planned timelines.
A representative of Bac Ninh Power Company said the construction of substations and grid facilities is carefully planned based on forecasts of electricity demand linked to economic growth, particularly the rapid expansion of the industrial sector.

The Dong Phuc Industrial Park 1 substation has recently been put into operation. |
Power demand in Bac Ninh has risen steadily as global manufacturers expand production in the province’s industrial parks, driven by Vietnam’s role in regional supply chains.
Alongside grid expansion, businesses in the province are also investing in energy efficiency and renewable solutions. At Pearl Global Vietnam Co. Ltd. in Bac Giang ward, rooftop solar power systems have been installed to reduce electricity consumption and cut operating costs, reflecting a broader shift towards sustainable energy use among industrial firms.
Provincial leaders say continued investment in power infrastructure will help Bac Ninh maintain its competitiveness as an industrial hub, reduce risks of power shortages and provide investors with greater confidence in the province’s long-term development prospects.
