Customs clearance facilitation helps boost exports in Bac Ninh

Updated: 15:41, 08/10/2026

BAC NINH - Shifting from a management-oriented approach to a service-focused model, Customs Sub-Department Region V is stepping up digital technology adoption and working proactively with businesses to resolve difficulties at their facilities.

In the first nine months of 2026, the customs authority facilitated procedures for more than 7,000 businesses, handling over 2.3 million customs declarations, up 21% from a year earlier, according to its data.

A representative of Sumika Electronic Materials Vietnam, based at VSIP Bac Ninh Industrial Park in Tu Son Ward, introduces the company's operations to a delegation from Customs Sub-Department Region V.

Total import-export turnover in areas under its management reached 237.92 billion USD, up 36%, while state budget revenue exceeded 16 trillion VND (617.5 million USD), equivalent to 99% of the assigned target and 41% higher than the same period last year.

The customs authority attributed the growth in trade activity to a recovery in industrial production, particularly exports by foreign-invested enterprises in electronics and high-tech industries in Bac Ninh city and Thai Nguyen province.

Orders for electronics and garments increased, driving higher demand for machinery and equipment for production, it said.

With satisfaction among residents and businesses serving as a key measure of public service performance, the customs authority has focused on administrative reforms and improving service quality.

Pham Chi Thanh, Head of Customs Sub-Department Region V, said the unit was mobilising resources to develop a digital customs model and streamline procedures to shorten clearance times and reduce costs for businesses while maintaining effective state management.

To implement the approach, the customs authority has assigned experienced and professionally qualified officials to positions directly handling applications and procedures.

It is also making greater use of software for checking intellectual property information, chemical lists and import-export data.

Since the beginning of the year, its leaders have directly visited large-scale factories to hear businesses' concerns and address difficulties in a timely manner.

The authority is currently implementing a 100-day campaign to remove bottlenecks in digital transformation and helping businesses improve compliance with customs regulations, contributing to a lower rate of physical inspections of goods.

Through these measures, Customs Sub-Department Region V aims to facilitate the movement of goods, help businesses maintain production and expand exports, and contribute to economic growth in Bac Ninh.
