After this date, tickets issued under the old system will no longer be valid.
To facilitate passengers' travel during the transition, the company will provide free ticket conversion support for passengers holding valid weekly or monthly passes under the old system.
The conversion process will fully preserve the remaining value of the tickets and is being carried out with on-site assistance from station staff from January 17 - 28.
During this period, each station will maintain at least one fare gate operating under the old system until January 28 to ensure smooth travel for passengers.
In addition, from January 17 to March 21, passengers purchasing single-journey tickets via the Hanoi Metro application will continue to receive a 100% fare subsidy.
Passengers using international Visa cards to pass through fare gates will also enjoy full fare support until February 28.
The synchronised deployment of electronic identification, authentication, biometric recognition, and cashless payment technologies is expected to help modernise management, improve service quality, and provide passengers with a safe, convenient, and environmentally friendly public transport experience, while contributing to the development of a smart urban transport system in the capital city.
