Vietnam’s e-commerce exports on Amazon surge 50%

The export value of Vietnamese products sold on the US e-commerce website Amazon has increased by 50% in the past year, as reported by the technology company at a conference on October 17.

The number of Vietnamese sellers also rose by 40% in the twelve months ending August 31, 2023, which witnessed 17 million Vietnamese products sold to customers worldwide.

According to Amazon, as a dynamic export-based economy with advantages in manufacturing capacity and strong digital transformation, Vietnam has great potential to promote retail export through e-commerce.

Vietnam is an emerging link in the global e-commerce supply chain and many Vietnamese enterprises have joined the growing community of sellers, said Eric Broussard, Amazon’s Vice President for International Seller Services.

He added that this result demonstrates the effective cooperation between Amazon and Vietnam’s small and medium-sized enterprises.

Gijae Seong, chief executive of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam, shared that in the future the company will help Vietnamese sellers innovate and improve their products to meet customers’ demands, build global brands and enhance their presence on the international stage.

Local e-commerce floors to be integrated
Local e-commerce floors in the 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam will connect with one another through a national integrated e-commerce floor, according to the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Prime Minister issues directive to enhances data sharing for e-commerce development
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 31 signed Directive No. 18/CT-TTg on promoting data connection and sharing for e-commerce development, preventing tax loss, and ensuring monetary security.
