The Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) is showcasing its 5G and artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona 2026, remaining the only Vietnamese representative at the world’s largest mobile industry event.

Taking place from March 2–5 in Barcelona, Spain, MWC 2026 brings together giant tech firms and innovators from more than 200 countries and territories.

This marks the ninth time Viettel has participated in the event, reaffirming Vietnam’s growing technological capabilities and its proactive role in the global digital landscape, said Lieutenant General Cao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel.

At MWC Barcelona 2026, themed “The IQ Era”, Viettel presents 24 products and services fully researched, developed and mastered by the group across all network layers, from infrastructure to advanced applications.

Among the highlights is its 5G Open RAN ecosystem, which has been recognised by Gartner as a Niche Player in the Magic Quadrant for CSP 5G RAN 2025.

Other key solutions include 5G Core, 5G Private networks, security chips, a Security Operations Center (SOC) platform, Viettel Cloud, NetMind AI Agent and NOCPRO.

The group also introduces B2B solutions such as Viettel Smart IP for smart industrial parks. These technologies have been widely deployed in Vietnam and overseas markets, demonstrating Viettel’s capacity to keep pace with global next-generation telecom trends.

The group also showcases its “Zero Trust Lifestyle” solutions designed to enhance digital safety, including the Tammi unified family platform, an AI-powered lending platform, V-Shield anti-scam protection, and AI-enabled traffic monitoring cameras.

In the “Intelligent Connect” zone, Viettel unveils forward-looking technologies such as low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite 5G NTN, low-altitude airspace ecosystems (eVTOL and UAV), robotic AI, Birdly VR experiences and the Xense AR platform.

On this occasion, Viettel is set to sign cooperation agreements with global partners including Qualcomm on 5G Advanced, 6G and agentic AI, while continuing collaboration with leading technology corporations in telecommunications, AI and cybersecurity.

Notably, an initiative by Viettel Telecom on telecom network optimisation has been nominated for the Global Mobile (GLOMO) Awards, often dubbed the “Oscars of the mobile industry".

Viettel exceeds target of 20,000 new 5G stations by more than three weeks

Viettel plans to continue scaling up its network from now until the end of 2025, with an additional 23,500 stations scheduled for installation, nearly quadruple the number rolled out in 2024. Once completed, Viettel will operate Vietnam’s largest 5G network, with 30,000 stations covering 90% of outdoor areas and 70% of indoor spaces nationwide, from major cities to rural regions.

 

Deputy PM urges Korea Telecom–Viettel partnership in AI, data centres
