2 Bac Giang athletes bag medals at SEA Games 32
Athlete Pham Tien San competed at duathlon event with the contents of 5km running, 20km cycling and 2.5km running. This year, the running and cycling distances are reduced a half compared to the 31st SEA Games; thus the speed race becomes fiercer.

The athlete made great efforts to win gold medal after running to the finish line in 54 minutes and 39 seconds. He was followed by the Cambodian athlete with a time of 54 minutes and 44.06 seconds and Indonesian athlete with 54 minutes and 48.03 seconds.
Pham Tien San was born in 1991 in Ngoc Thien commune, Tan Yen district who was initially a 3000m steeplechase runner. In his career, Pham Tien San has won many outstanding achievements; particularly he won championships at the national competitions for 5 consecutive years, bagged 3 SEA Games silver medals in 2013, 2015 and 2017 and 2 silver medals at the Asian Beach Games.
At the 31st SEA Games organised in Vietnam in 2022, Pham Tien San also won gold medal at duathlon event combining 10km running, 40km cycling and 5km running. On the occasion of the 127th founding anniversary of Bac Giang province in October 2022, he was among 10 individuals awarded the outstanding Bac Giang citizen title by Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.
6 athletes of the Sports Training and Competition Center of Bac Giang province were selected to participate in SEA Games 32. The athletes compete at the events: track and field, duathlon (combining running and cycling), badminton and chess ouk chaktrang.
On May 6, Nguyen Quang Trung (born in 2002 in Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district), the ouk chaktrang master (chess ouk or Khmer chess game) excellently won silver medal in men’s blitz chess event.
