He affirmed that the National Cheo Festival, held periodically, aims to honor, preserve and promote the traditional values of Cheo – a form of Vietnamese folk opera. It also provided a forum for artists and troupes to exchange experience, foster creativity, and enhance performance quality.
“The festival not only reflects the current state of Cheo art but also discovers new talents and nurtures the next generation of artists,” Dong said. “Hosting the event in Bac Ninh – the land of Quan ho folk songs and the cradle of Kinh Bac culture – has made this meeting between Cheo and Quan ho particularly meaningful, symbolizing a dialogue between Vietnam’s unique traditional art forms.”

“The participation of many young performers in new plays is a positive sign, demonstrating that the Cheo tradition is being renewed and passed down in line with modern sensibilities,” Thom said.
At the closing ceremony, the organizing committee presented two Excellence Awards, 33 Gold Medals, and 65 Silver Medals to outstanding performers. In addition, two plays and several individuals in scriptwriting, musical direction, and stage design were honored.
