Implementing the project to promote international cooperation at local level in recent years, Bac Giang province and other localities have promoted cooperation with Chinese partners and localities. In particular, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region plays an important role in Bac Giang province’s imports and exports through the border gates, especially lychee.

The export of lychee through Vietnam's border gates adjacent to Guangxi province has always been favorable, with good growth.

Nanning is a city with strong industrial development, consistent with Bac Giang’s investment attraction and industrial development cooperation orientations.

Speaking at the conference, Tuan gave an overview of the geographical location and socio-economic situation of Bac Giang province. Bac Giang is emerging as a bright spot in the country in terms of economic development and an attractive destination for many large investors, both domestically and internationally.

In its development orientation, Bac Giang province attaches great importance to foreign relations, international integration, and cooperation expansion.

The province has 217 FDI projects of Chinese enterprises with a combined registered capital of about 4.6 billion USD (equivalent to nearly 50% of total registered FDI in Bac Giang). Chinese businesses coming to explore investment in Bac Giang have been warmly welcomed.

Total import-export turnover between Bac Giang and the Chinese market reached 15.3 billion USD in 2022 and more than 10 billion USD in the first eight months of 2023.

Some localities of Bac Giang province and China have had initial working sessions and exchanges towards establishing cooperative relations.

Tuan hoped that in the coming time, Bac Giang province and Nanning city will work together to effectively implement the signed agreement; invest in projects in the province's industrial parks and those to develop general service and logistics areas, high-end hotel and resort complexes, and eco-tourism areas.

He urged Nanning to support Bac Giang province in activities to promote export of goods from Bac Giang province to China, especially agricultural products of its strength such as lychee, orange, grapefruit and honey. The two sides should actively cooperate in boosting e-commerce, developing cross-border industries and facilitate customs clearance of goods and international payments.

It is necessary to promote tourism potential of Bac Giang province, strengthen cooperation in vocational training and providing high-quality human resources to boost investment attraction between the two sides, and bolster cultural exchange activities, the Bac Giang official said.

On this occasion, Bac Giang province and Nanning city signed a cooperation agreement on establishing a government-level discussion mechanism while Nanning city and Bac Giang city also inked another on establishing their friendship city relations.

At the event, projects on cross-border digital foreign trade general service platform cooperation, cooperation in cross-border industry service and development center between China and Vietnam in Nanning city, and environmental cooperation between Kang Heng and Vietnam were also signed.

Representatives of Bac Giang city and some other Vietnamese cities introduced and promoted their potential.
