Accordingly, the total herd of pigs reached 1 million, up 18.2 percent year-on-year and the poultry population was about 18.4 million, up 3.4 percent. The rise in the number of fowls was seen in such districts as Yen The, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam and Lang Giang, while pigs increased mainly in Luc Nam, Lang Giang, Yen Dung and Hiep Hoa districts.

Many farms in Bac Giang have applied science and technology in pig breeding.

This year, the sale of livestock and poultry has been favorable, with the selling prices 4-9.6 percent higher than the same period last year. Specifically, the average price of live pigs is about 78,000 VND (3.4 USD) per kg, while that of live chickens is 62,000 VND (2.7 USD) per kg. With this price, for every 1,000 chickens, the breeder earns 10-15 million VND (436-654 USD) in profit.

Right after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, the provincial competent agencies and specialized units of districts have focused on guiding farmers to continue to raise new herds according to the plan, while strictly complying with the breeding process to ensure biosafety.
