Bac Giang’s fighter wins gold at the World Wushu Championships
The Championships took place from 18 to 20 November. The Vietnamese wushu team attended with 13 athletes competing at the 2 events including taolu (performance) with 22 categories and sanda (contact fighting) with 7 weight categories from 48kg to 75kg for both men and women. The athletes competed in a knockout format.

After winning over 3 opponents at the knockout round, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy defeated the Indonesian athlete Roshibina Devi Naorem with the 2-0 score at the finale on November 11 early morning (Vietnam time) to win the prestigious gold medal. Previously, Thuy was defeated by this fighter at the 19th Asian Games (Asiad 19) hosted by China in November and bagged a bronze medal.
This is the first gold medal Thuy gained at the World Championships during her competition career. Vietnamese team won total 5 gold medals at the 2023 World Wushu Championships in the US.
Fighter Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (born in 1998) in Ngoc Chau commune, Tan Yen district, Bac Giang province has practiced marital art since she was 10. She is an excellent athlete of the Vietnamese wushu team who has won many medals at the big national, regional and international championships. Thuy has demonstrated as a talented athlete with completed skills, outstanding physical strength, firm competition spirit and hard work.
