Bac Ninh accelerates key transport projects to expand development space

Updated: 15:59, 12/07/2025

BAC NINH – With the strategy that transport infrastructure paves the way for economic growth, Bac Ninh province is maximising opportunities from major national projects passing through its territory, including the Ring Road 4 – Hanoi Capital Region project, the road connecting Gia Binh airport to Hanoi and the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway line.

These projects are expected to create new momentum for socio-economic development, enabling this dynamic industrial province to make strong breakthroughs and integrate deeper into the global economy.

This guiding principle has been emphasised by Chairman of Bac Ninh People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan in implementing national key projects crossing the province, aiming to accelerate progress, open new development space, and help the province achieve socio-economic targets to become a centrally governed city before 2030.

The Ring Road 4 section running through Bac Ninh is 35.3 km long. It is a vital route enhancing the province’s connectivity with Hanoi and neighbouring provinces, easing traffic pressure on National Highways 18 and 1, and promoting regional economic development.

Recognising its importance, Bac Ninh has mobilised the entire political system to implement the project with urgency and determination, using a “hands-on” approach to ensure completion one year ahead of the Government and National Assembly’s schedule, by December 31, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong railway project, although only crossing nearly 4 km within Bac Ninh, is also being expedited under provincial directives.

Previously, new external connectivity routes have been built, such as the road linking National Highways 37 and 17 (Vo Nhai – Thai Nguyen), Dong Viet bridge connecting Bac Ninh with Hai Phong, and Hoa Son bridge linking Bac Ninh with Thai Nguyen.

With its favourable geographical location as the gateway to Hanoi Capital Region, Bac Ninh acts as a bridge between Hanoi, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, possessing relatively synchronous transport infrastructure that makes it an ideal investment destination. National arterial transport projects through the province have created strong impetus for regional economic growth.

Moreover, in its overall development strategy, Bac Ninh has always identified transport as a key breakthrough to transform into a centre of economy, industrial production, commerce, and services nationwide. Transport serves as the “backbone” for urban spatial restructuring and establishing new growth poles.

The province is working closely with ministries, central agencies, and localities to speed up site clearance and complete technical infrastructure, enabling national key transport projects to be put into use soon.

With increasingly completed transport infrastructure combined with these major projects, Bac Ninh is not only enhancing investment attraction and consolidating its role as a national industrial-electronics hub but also opening new development space for trade, services, and urbanisation, soaring together with the country’s growth.
