Bac Ninh approves two wind power projects worth over 228 million USD
BAC NINH - Authorities in the northern province of Bac Ninh have granted investment approval and officially recognized investors for two wind power projects with a combined investment of more than 6 trillion VND (over 228 million USD), as the province steps up development of renewable energy infrastructure.
The investment certificates were presented at a ceremony chaired by Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh People's Committee, with representatives from the German Embassy in Hanoi, the German Industry and Commerce delegation in Vietnam, local government agencies and investors in attendance.

One of the projects, the SD Son Dong Wind Power Plant, will be developed by SD Dai Son Wind Power JSC. Located across Son Dong, Van Son, Dai Son and Yen Dinh communes, the project will occupy about 65.2 hectares and have an installed capacity of 105 megawatts (MW).
Once operational, the plant is expected to generate around 242.6 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually for Vietnam's national grid. Total investment is estimated at more than 3.92 trillion VND.

The second project, the Bac Giang 2 Wind Power Plant, was awarded to a consortium comprising Germany's ENERTRAG SE and ENERTRAG Vietnam Co., Ltd.
The project will be built in Tuan Dao, Duong Huu and Son Dong communes with a designed capacity of 55 MW. It carries an investment of more than 2.1 trillion VND and will use approximately 33.4 hectares of land.
Both projects have an operating term of 50 years from the date the state grants land lease and land-use conversion rights. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2028.

Investor representatives thanked provincial authorities and relevant agencies for their support during the project preparation process and pledged to ensure construction quality, maintain the implementation schedule, and comply with environmental and social responsibility requirements.
With a combined capacity of 160 MW, the two wind farms are expected to strengthen the country's clean energy supply, attract further investment into the renewable energy sector, create jobs, increase local budget revenues, and support sustainable economic development in Bac Ninh Province.
