Bac Ninh boosts appeal of spiritual-ecological tourism
BAC NINH - Spiritual-ecological tourism in Bac Ninh is gaining momentum thanks to increased investment from authorities, relevant agencies, and tourism operators. However, further efforts are needed to develop distinctive tourism products and enhance visitor experiences to ensure sustainable growth.
In November 2025, Thien Lai Pagoda in Yen Dung ward was inaugurated amid great excitement among local residents, monks, Buddhists, and visitors. The complex features key structures such as the main hall, ancestral house, three gates, bell tower, and drum tower.

Since its completion, the pagoda, with its grand and solemn architecture, has not only met spiritual needs but also become a new tourist attraction. Since the Lunar New Year 2026, it has welcomed thousands of visitors and emerged as a popular stop on the pilgrimage journey to Vinh Nghiem Pagoda.
Earlier in 2026, the Hoa Nghiem Bell Tower was inaugurated. Standing 36 metres tall with three levels, the structure is designed in the shape of a lotus pedestal and sits amid a lake spanning more than 8,000 square metres, creating a space that is both sacred and picturesque.
It is part of Phase 3 of the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex, a project launched in May 2022.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, a visitor from Hanoi, shared: “I learned about the Hoa Nghiem Bell Tower through the media and invited friends to visit the Tay Yen Tu complex. The scenery is beautiful, the air is fresh, and we took some great photos here.”
Bac Ninh is home to a wealth of cultural heritage, historical relics, and natural landscapes. In its development strategy, spiritual-ecological tourism has been identified as a key product with strong potential to attract visitors.
Investments in landmark projects have enriched the landscape and created new tourism offerings, catering to the growing demand for experiences that combine spirituality, nature exploration, relaxation, and cultural discovery.
In recent years, many tourism sites in the province have been upgraded and restored, including Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, the Tay Yen Tu spiritual-ecological tourism complex, Suoi Mo eco-tourism site, Bau Tien tourism site, and Ven village community tourism site.
These efforts have gradually formed a diverse network of destinations. The steady increase in visitor numbers reflects the rising appeal of this tourism segment.
Alongside heritage preservation, authorities have focused on improving infrastructure, expanding tourism space, and enhancing service quality.
The province currently has 38 recognised tourism sites. In 2026, Bac Ninh aims to welcome 6.5-7 million visitors, including around 420,000 international arrivals, with total tourism revenue projected at about 6.6 trillion VND (250.75 million USD). By 2030, the province targets 10 million visitors and 10 trillion VND in revenue.
To achieve these goals, spiritual-ecological tourism will remain a central focus.
Do Tuan Khoa, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the department will coordinate with relevant agencies to develop and link tour routes with neighbouring localities such as Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh along cultural-heritage corridors. Plans also include developing one-day and two-day-one-night Hanoi - Bac Ninh – Hanoi tours for international visitors.
Priority will be given to restoring and preserving national heritage sites, preventing deterioration, and integrating cultural promotion into tour programmes in a more vivid, engaging, and attractive way, he added.
