The programme, themed “Kinh Bac - Source of Heritage, Reaching New Heights”, was held on September 19 at February 3 Square in Bac Giang ward by the Bac Ninh Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

It marked the announcement of the National Assembly’s resolution establishing centrally governed Bac Ninh city and the city’s receipt of the first-class Labour Order.

Broadcast live on Vietnam Television’s VTV1 and shared across local television and digital platforms, the roughly 80-minute programme featured an opening section and three chapters: “Kinh Bac – A Convergence of Cultures,” “Bac Ninh – Reaching New Heights” and “Bac Ninh in step with the country”.

The show opened with performances of “Bac Ninh – Kinh Bac” and “King Bac” by singers Tung Duong and Minh Ngoc, accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Music, narration and projected images evoked the region’s centuries-old cultural and historical heritage.

The stage was built around the image of a “Gateway to the Era”, with moving visuals symbolising links between the past, present and future. LED screens, lighting and performances recreated the journey from the ancient city of Luy Lau to present-day Bac Ninh.

The first chapter highlighted Luy Lau as an ancient urban centre associated with trade, cultural exchange and early civilisational development in Kinh Bac.

Performances also showcased the cultural diversity of ethnic communities, including the Nung, Tay, San Diu, San Chay, Dao and Hoa, alongside Kinh Bac traditions.

The programme then turned to Vietnam’s revolutionary history and the patriotic traditions of local people through songs including “Len Dang”, “Ca ngoi Ho Chu tich - Vang thai duong” and “Ao mua dong”.

The second chapter portrayed Bac Ninh’s transformation through renovation, industrialisation, integration and urban expansion, using stage imagery to represent transport networks, data flows, logistics and growing urban spaces.

The programme presented Bac Ninh as a green, smart and modern city while highlighting innovation, cultural heritage and people as key elements of its development.

Performances by singers Hoa Minzy and Noo Phuoc Thinh combined traditional Vietnamese musical elements with contemporary styles.

The show concluded with “Ruc ro Viet Nam toi” and “Noi vong tay lon”, followed by fireworks at February 3 Square and the Kinh Bac Cultural Centre Square.

The programme offered a portrait of the new Bac Ninh city built on its cultural heritage, revolutionary traditions and human resources while looking towards greener, smarter and more modern development.
