In recent months, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has worked with the Tourism Association, travel firms and localities to survey and develop new tours and routes.

New programmes include the "Hanoi Five City Gates" tourist train on the Thang Long-Kinh Bac route, free "Journey to the Land of Heritage" tours, Quan ho folk singing experiences, craft village tours and cultural-spiritual itineraries connecting major historical sites.

The initiatives are gradually creating interconnected tourism products while encouraging visitors to extend their stays.

The new tours not only connect destinations but also immerse visitors in local culture.

The "Journey to the Land of Quan Ho" tour gives visitors the chance to listen to Quan ho singing in Diem village, learn and perform songs with local male and female singers, and sample traditional cuisine.

The "Truc Lam Buddhism Imprints - Kinh Bac Heritage Land" tour takes visitors to Bo Da Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda and Tay Yen Tu, offering insights into the Truc Lam Zen tradition and the region's cultural and historical values.

Other programmes include making Dong Ho folk paintings, shaping Phu Lang pottery, sampling Kinh Bac specialties and listening to Quan ho performances on boats.

Tran Quoc Dung, Director of Dinh Anh International Tourism Trading Co Ltd, said tourists increasingly seek experiences that reflect local identity.

"Businesses are therefore prioritising programmes that connect visitors with heritage, allow them to meet artisans and immerse themselves in community life," Dung said.

In the first six months of this year, Bac Ninh welcomed about 4.17 million visitors, equivalent to 60% of its annual target, while tourism revenue was estimated at 3.8 trillion VND (145.7 million USD).

The "Hanoi Five City Gates" Thang Long-Kinh Bac tourist train alone has operated more than 370 trips and served over 72,000 passengers after nearly a year in service, highlighting the growing appeal of tourism in Bac Ninh.

As Bac Ninh works towards becoming a centrally administered city, the tourism sector is gaining new development opportunities. Alongside tours within the province, the move is expected to facilitate the development of tourism products linked with Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and other provinces in the region.

Vi Xuan Lam, Chairman of the provincial Tourism Association, said each tour should have its own distinctive appeal, promote the identity of individual localities and strengthen links among travel companies, tourism sites, craft villages and local communities.

"When each journey offers a different experience, visitors will have more reasons to stay longer and return," Lam said.

Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a conference to promote tourism and connect travel businesses bringing visitors to Bac Ninh.

To enhance the province's appeal as a destination, the provincial Cultural and Tourism Promotion Centre and representatives of several tourism businesses signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation to develop and promote tourism products for 2026-2030.

Bac Ninh aims to welcome more than 10 million visitors by 2030, including more than 1 million international tourists.
