Updated: 11:33, 25/05/2026

BAC NINH - During a working visit to the United States from May 21-27, a delegation from northern Bac Ninh province led by Nguyen Thi Huong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and head of the province’s National Assembly delegation, visited the Omni Parker House hotel in Boston, where late President Ho Chi Minh worked between 1912 and 1913.

The delegation included Nguyen Dinh Loi, Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation; Phan The Tuan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Tran Van Tuan, Deputy Head of the provincial National Assembly delegation.

Nguyen Thi Huong and Phan The Tuan visit the exhibition area displaying archival photographs and documents about late President Ho Chi Minh at the hotel.

Opened in 1855, the Omni Parker House is one of the oldest continuously operating hotels in the United States.

Historical records preserved at the hotel show that Ho Chi Minh, then known as Nguyen Tat Thanh, worked there as a kitchen assistant and baker during his time in the United States.

The hotel continues to preserve artifacts linked to Ho Chi Minh’s stay, including a marble table in the former kitchen that has remained intact.

During the visit, Nguyen Thi Huong said she was moved to visit the site where Ho Chi Minh once lived and worked during his journey to seek a path for Vietnam’s national liberation.

Cream pie, the pastry once made by President Ho Chi Minh at the hotel, is still produced and sold there today.

She thanked the Boston city authorities and the hotel management for preserving documents and artifacts related to Ho Chi Minh, saying the effort contributes to safeguarding important historical milestones in Vietnam-U.S. relations.

She said preserving and promoting the historical value of the artifacts not only carries deep historical significance, but also helps educate younger generations and strengthen mutual understanding and ties between the peoples of the two countries, while continuing to honour Ho Chi Minh as a national liberation hero and a world cultural figure.
