Phuc Hoa commune hosts gala to welcome 2026 early lychee season

Updated: 17:06, 25/05/2026

BAC NINH - Phuc Hoa commune in northern Bac Ninh province has held a gala titled “Welcoming the 2026 Early Lychee Season” as part of efforts to promote lychee consumption through new marketing approaches.

Pham Van Thinh, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, attended the event.

Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh presents a certificate to Ngo Van Cuong, owner of the lychee orchard that won first prize in the beautiful lychee orchard competition.

Despite unfavourable weather conditions that reduced flowering and fruit-setting rates this year, the commune has maintained 845 hectares of lychee orchards, with output estimated at around 7,500 tonnes in 2026.

Phuc Hoa currently has 25 export-certified growing area codes covering more than 800 hectares, supplying demanding markets including the United States, Japan, Australia and the European Union.

As part of the programme, the commune organised the 2026 “Beautiful Lychee Garden” competition to honour outstanding growers and promote effective farming models.

The first prize went to Ngo Van Cuong from Quat Du 2 village, while two second prizes were awarded to Le Dang Vuong from Thai Hoa village and Ngo Tuong Vi from Quat Du 2 village.

Speaking at the event, the provincial leader Pham Van Thinh said it was the first time in the province that a gala promoting fruit crops had been organised in a nature-oriented setting, helping strengthen links between agricultural production and community life.

He praised local farmers for their creativity as well as the support from provincial agencies in quality management to meet the standards of demanding export markets.

The Vice Chairman said the lychee garden competition also contributed to developing multi-value agriculture. He called on Phuc Hoa commune to expand the use of IMO biological products in lychee cultivation, diversify early-ripening lychee varieties and study off-season production to increase product value.
