Bac Ninh prioritises river-crossing bridge projects
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province is prioritising investment in river-crossing bridges to ease infrastructure bottlenecks, reduce logistics costs and expand space for industrial, urban and service development, as it seeks to strengthen regional transport links.
Located at the gateway to Hanoi, Bac Ninh has strong potential for industrial, service and logistics development. But its river-crossing bridge network has yet to meet development needs.

The province has identified bridge investment as a key task to improve transport infrastructure and connect industrial parks, logistics centres and Gia Binh International Airport with seaports and the national transport network.
The Dong Viet Bridge and its approach road, which began operations in mid-2025 after an investment of nearly 1.5 trillion VND (57.3 million USD), is a cable-stayed bridge linking Bac Ninh with Hai Phong.
Investment in river-crossing bridges is not simply about meeting travel needs, but also a strategic solution to improve transport infrastructure, expand development space and enhance the province’s competitiveness

The project has created an important transport corridor, shortening cargo routes from industrial parks to Hai Phong's seaport system, cutting transport costs and easing pressure on existing roads.
The Ha Bac 2 Bridge, which crosses the Cau River and links Yen Trung commune with Van Ha ward, has also strengthened transport connectivity.
The project, costing more than 358 billion VND from central and provincial budgets, opened in April 2025, facilitating travel, connecting industrial parks and urban areas, expanding development space and supporting investment and socio-economic growth.
Since 2021, Bac Ninh has invested tens of trillions of dong from central and provincial budgets in 10 river-crossing bridge projects and their approach roads.
The projects are gradually completing the province's inter-regional transport network and strengthening links with Hanoi and Hai Phong.
Several projects, including the Nhu Nguyet Bridge, the expanded Xuong Giang Bridge and the Kinh Duong Vuong Bridge, have been completed and put into operation, while others are being accelerated.
The benefits from completed projects have encouraged the province to continue developing its bridge network under its transport development plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Nguyen Viet Hung, director of the provincial Department of Construction, said river-crossing bridges were not simply intended to meet travel needs but were a strategic solution to improve transport infrastructure, expand development space and strengthen the province's competitiveness.
The bridge projects have been identified as key provincial works, with resources prioritised and strong direction provided from the project preparation stage.
Once completed, the bridges will shorten distances and improve connections between industrial parks, logistics centres, urban areas and major transport hubs.
Among projects under construction, the Kenh Vang and Van Ha bridges are being accelerated.

The province has also recently approved the construction of Kim Chan Bridge and an approach road linking Provincial Road 398 with Provincial Road 285B, with total investment of more than 1.471 trillion VND.
During 2026-2030, Bac Ninh will continue to prioritise resources for bridges crossing the Cau and Thai Binh rivers and their approach roads, connecting with ring roads, national highways, expressways and Gia Binh International Airport.
The completed bridges and projects under development are expected to create new growth corridors.
Beyond meeting transport needs, the projects will help tap the potential of river routes, attract investment, support urban development and strengthen the province's competitiveness in a new phase.
