Bac Ninh’s strategic infrastructure drives development

Updated: 10:37, 24/07/2026

BAC NINH - With Gia Binh international airport, belt roads, railway, waterway networks and multimodal logistics, Bac Ninh has been gradually developed an integrated transport connectivity system, which provides a strong foundation for enhancing logistics capabilities, strengthening competitiveness and reinforcing the province's role as a strategic link in regional, national and international economic networks.

Bac Ninh’s strategic infrastructure both serves the local development needs and contributes to completing the traffic and logistics networks in the capital region, the Red River delta and northern key economic zone.

Gia Binh International Airport is being built to international standards, with the goal of becoming a smart, green and sustainable airport.

With its strategic location among Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Lang Son, and the northern midland and mountainous provinces, Bac Ninh is well positioned to serve as a vital connectivity hub.

The development of a synchronized transport network will enable the province to strengthen its role as a key connector linking the country's largest political and economic center with seaports, border gates and major industrial production areas.

Gia Binh international airport is defined a national key project, serving as an additional major aviation gateway to the northeast of Hanoi capital.

Once seamlessly integrated with the ring road system, expressways, railways and logistics network, the airport will not only enhance passenger and cargo transport capacity but also create favorable conditions for investment attraction and development of high-tech industries, trade, services, and tourism.

This project is expected to ease congestion at Noi Bai International Airport while enhancing the international connectivity of the northern key economic region.

The belt roads No4, No5 and the network of expressways and highways have formed connecting axises to link Bac Ninh with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen and Lang Son.

This traffic system helps to reduce transportation time, enlarge urban and industrial space as well as enhance connectivity among industrial parks, urban areas, logistics centers and major big transportation hubs.

It will enable Bac Ninh to deeply involve in the regional production, supply chain and goods distribution network in northern Vietnam.

The growth of railway, inland waterway and multimodal logistics centers is significant to ease burden on road transportation and reduce logistics costs.

The linkage among Gia Binh international airport, Kep rail station, inland clearance depots (ICDs), Hai Phong seaport and northern border gates will create an integrated multimodal transport network, which will help to improve the efficiency of circulation of raw materials and import-export goods.

This will provide a critical foundation for enhancing business competitiveness, particularly those operating in electronics, semiconductor, mechanical engineering and supporting industries.

Bac Ninh prioritizes the development of high-tech industries, modern logistics services and knowledge-based sectors, enabling deeper integration into global production networks and value chains.

The integrated infrastructure network also lays a solid foundation for reorganizing the province's development space into a polycentric and multi-center structure, narrowing regional disparities and strengthening development spillover across neighboring areas.

Beyond connecting places, the new traffic routes also unlock land for urban expansion, industrial, trade and service development while stimulating emergence of new economic corridors, generating job opportunities and enhancing people’s access to public services.

At national level, Bac Ninh’s strategic infrastructure system contributes to consolidating the economic corridors connecting Vietnam to China, northern seaports and international commercial networks.

With a fully integrated infrastructure network, Bac Ninh will be better positioned to strengthen its role as a key growth pole, a high-tech industrial center and a major logistics hub, thereby contributing to enhancing the resilience and self-reliance of its economy, improving the country's competitiveness and enabling further integration into global supply chains.
