Updated: 16:20, 14/05/2026

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province recently held a conference to promote connections between cinema, cultural heritage and tourism, as part of preparations to host the 25th Vietnam Film Festival in 2027.

The event, titled “Cinema – Connecting Heritage and Tourism in Bac Ninh Province”, was jointly chaired by Mai Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and Dang Tran Cuong, Director of the Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 13.

Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son speaks at the event.

Known as the ancient land of Kinh Bac, Bac Ninh is home to 1,455 historical and cultural relics, including eight UNESCO-recognized heritage elements, alongside traditional craft villages and distinctive festivals.

The province also boasts ecological attractions such as Cam Son Lake and Khe Ro Forest, which local officials described as a “natural film studio” rich in cultural identity.

Delegates at the conference viewed presentations highlighting Bac Ninh’s tourism potential and award-winning entries from the photo contest “Heritage Moments of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac”.

Organizers said the event aimed to showcase how filmmaking can contribute to heritage preservation and tourism-driven economic development.

Prior to the conference, representatives from film studios, directors, screenwriters and producers spent two days surveying historical and cultural sites across the province, including Do Temple, But Thap Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Bo Da Pagoda, Tay Yen Tu and Tho Ha ancient village.

Participants said Bac Ninh offered a unique blend of history, spirituality and traditional culture suitable for film production.

Several film projects linked to the province were introduced at the event. Cine Plus announced an animated feature titled “The Battle of Nhu Nguyet”.

Culture-Education Development JSC presented a documentary project, “Silent Footsteps”, exploring the spiritual journey of the Truc Lam Zen sect in contemporary life.

Director Le Duc Tien introduced two historical projects, “The Light of Luy Lau” and “The Retired Emperor and Princess Huyen Tran”, focusing on Buddhism and the Tran Dynasty.

Film producer and actress Mai Thu Huyen proposes ideas for incorporating cultural heritage into film projects.

Screenwriter Dinh Thien Phuc also presented “Thien Do”, a historical feature about King Ly Thai To and the establishment of the Ly Dynasty.

The provincial Vice Chairman Mai Son said Bac Ninh would continue introducing supportive policies for film production and create favorable conditions for filmmakers, including administrative support and access to filming locations.

He also instructed the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to coordinate with relevant agencies to develop a database of scenic filming locations for production companies.

Provincial leaders encouraged filmmakers to continue researching Bac Ninh’s history, culture and industrial workforce to produce films serving both local audiences and wider public interest.
