Bac Ninh has more than 2,100 hectares of custard apple orchards with an estimated output of 16,000 tonnes, mainly in Nghia Phuong, Dong Phu and Luc Nam communes.

Purple custard apples are grown in Nghia Phuong commune.

As of August 5, farmers had harvested around 1,700 tonnes, with prices ranging from 25,000 VND to 40,000 VND (0.95-1.53 USD) per kilogram, broadly unchanged from a year earlier.

In addition to traditional custard apple varieties, growers continue to cultivate premium purple custard apples, originally from Malaysia, and Thai custard apples weighing between 0.5 kg and 0.8 kg each.

These varieties are selling for 60,000-130,000 VND (2.28-4.96 USD) per kilogram, depending on the season, helping diversify products and meet consumer demand.

Local farmers' associations have encouraged members to adopt safer and more sustainable farming practices, including greater use of organic fertilizers suited to local soil conditions to improve fruit quality and protect the environment.

The province has around 3,550 hectares of longan orchards with an estimated production of 21,000 tonnes.

About 2,800 tonnes have been harvested so far, with prices ranging from 15,000 VND to 35,000 VND (0.57-1.33 USD) per kilogram, up 10,000-20,000 VND (0.38-0.76 USD) from the same period last year, boosting farmers' incomes.

Other key fruit crops, including oranges and pomelos, are developing well. Bac Ninh has about 2,500 hectares of oranges with an expected output of 27,000 tonnes and more than 5,200 hectares of pomelos expected to produce 47,000 tonnes.

The smooth sales of seasonal fruit following the lychee harvest highlight the effectiveness of production planning, improved cultivation practices, market expansion and efforts to build the province's agricultural brands, supporting higher production value and rural incomes.
