Bac Ninh strengthens links to develop semiconductor industry

Updated: 15:30, 10/09/2026

BAC NINH - Bac Ninh province is seeking to strengthen cooperation among semiconductor companies, universities and authorities to build an ecosystem for the strategic industry, provincial officials said.

Pham Van Thinh, a member of the provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, attended a meeting of the provisional executive committee of the Bac Ninh Semiconductor Association in Kinh Bac ward alongside representatives of government agencies and semiconductor companies on September 9.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh speaks at the event.

The association aims to connect businesses, training institutions and authorities, while working with universities to develop training programmes tailored to industry demand and help reduce companies' recruitment and training costs.

Companies at the meeting said the association would provide opportunities to share experience, explore investment opportunities and cooperate across different stages of semiconductor production.

They also highlighted the need for more technical workers and experts, as well as long-term solutions to ensure adequate electricity supplies for an industry with high power consumption.

Businesses also called for guidance on tax policies, incentives for importing components, support mechanisms for high-tech industries, and closer links between training institutions and employers.

The provincial leader said the development of the semiconductor industry was an inevitable trend and the establishment of the association was necessary.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh presents flowers to congratulate the provisional Executive Committee of the Bac Ninh Semiconductor Association.

He confirmed Bac Ninh had advantages including well-developed infrastructure, a growing skilled workforce and universities capable of supplying personnel, including East Asia University of Technology.

The association should serve as a bridge between businesses and the province, helping address difficulties, attract investment, develop talent and enable companies to participate more deeply in global semiconductor value chains, he said.

He added that Bac Ninh was implementing measures to expand power supplies, including investment in substations and the development of rooftop solar, wind power and waste-to-energy plants.

The provisional executive committee of the Bac Ninh Semiconductor Association was officially launched at the meeting.
