Bac Ninh student wins top prize at national Korean speaking contest
BAC NINH - Hoang Bao Chau, a 12th-grade Korean-language student at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, won first prize in the high school category at the 2026 National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador's Cup.
The final round held in Hanoi on September 26 brought together 18 outstanding contestants who had advanced through rigorous qualifying rounds in northern and southern Vietnam.

They were selected from 94 educational institutions nationwide, including high schools, colleges, universities and academies.
With strong language skills, quick thinking and flexible responses, Chau delivered a convincing performance to take the top prize in the high school category.
The student has previously won several awards at Korean-language competitions. She won first prize in the 10th-grade national winter round of the Internet Korean Olympiad (IOK), second prize in the 11th-grade winter round, and third prize in a dubbing contest organised by the Korean Language and Culture Center of the University of Languages and International Studies under Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The National Korean Speaking Contest – Korean Ambassador's Cup provides a platform for Vietnamese students learning Korean and is divided into three categories: Korean-language majors, non-majors and high school students.
Born in 2009 in My Thai Commune and now living in Lang Giang Ward, Chau's first prize at the 2026 Korean Ambassador's Cup recognises her sustained efforts and highlights the Korean-language training provided by Bac Giang High School for the Gifted.
