Early ripening longan enjoys high selling price
The province has about 3,400 ha of longan, 3,000 ha of which are at harvest season mostly in the districts of Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Yen The, Tan Yen and Lang Giang. Thanks to favorable weather condition, all localities have bumper longan season with total productivity of nearly 23,300 tonnes.

As of August 4, the localities in Bac Giang harvested over 4,600 tonnes of longan, including 1,800 tonnes from Luc Ngan, over 1,000 tonnes from Lang Giang, 650 tonnes from Yen The, 420 tonnes from Luc Nam…
The average selling price fluctuates from 10 to 20,000 VND per kg, higher than last year price of 10 to 15 percent.
To actively consume the fruit, this year the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development cooperated with the districts of Luc Nam and Yen The to direct production at qualified longan areas to export to the US, Australia, Japan, Singapore and China among others with total area of 200ha and expected output of 1,500 tonnes of fruits.
