Life among Vietnam’s ethnic communities through the lens of female photographers

The everyday beauty of Vietnam’s ethnic communities, with patterned dresses and smiling children, is captured through the lenses of female photographers.

This was one of the photos in a collection shown at the annual art photography exhibition by the Hai Au Female Photography Club at the HCMC Women’s Cultural House from Sept. 25 to Oct. 12.

The event, with the theme Colors of Life among Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups, featured 100 works by 25 photographers depicting the culture, traditions and daily life of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups.

The exhibition showcases the lands and lives of Vietnamese ethnic groups, including women at work with bright and optimistic expressions.

HCMC Photography Association president Doan Hoai Trung said the works depict ethnic cultures in a vivid manner and contribute to preserving and honoring traditional values.

The exhibition has been held annually since 1990. The Hai Au Female Photography Club has 25 members aged up to 80, and has won more than 1,000 awards in domestic and international competitions.
