Nearly 200 athletes attend 2023 National Youth Sepak Takraw Championships in Bac Giang

(BGO)- The Vietnam Sports Administration, Vietnam’s Sepak Takraw Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province on July 15 jointly held the 2023 National Youth Sepak Takraw Championships at the Bac Giang provincial Gymnasium.

The tournament attracted nearly 200 athletes from 10 provinces, cities and agencies including Bac Giang, Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Nghe An, Thua Thien Hue, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and the People’s Public Security.

The Organizing Board gives souvenir flags and flower to the athletes’ delegations.

The athletes competed in the men’s 4-player team, women’s 4-player team, women’s 3-player team, women’s doubles and mix-gender events at the age groups of under 16 and from 17 to 20.

The Bac Giang delegation included 15 female athletes with many outstanding faces who competed and won high achievements at the national competitions such as Nguyen Thi Hai Yen, Giap Thanh Xuan and Giap Thu Hoa.

The match of U16 women’s 3-player team event between Bac Giang team and the People’s Public Security team on the morning of July 15.

Previously, the Bac Giang’s sepak takraw team took part in the friendly matches against a number of sepak takraw clubs in Hanoi and Republic of Korea to gain experience and improve qualification and skills. The championships will take place from 15 to 23 July with total 150 matches.

14 groups of prizes will be awarded by the Organizing Board to athletes winning high achievements at the competition events.
