In preliminary rounds, students solve mathematics problems online in English, while in national and final rounds they sat direct written exams in English.
At the 2025 Vietnam national round, the organisers awarded 358 medals (gold, silver, bronze) to outstanding performers. Among them, Nguyen Hoang Duc Anh, student at 9A1 class (academic year 2024-2025) at Le Quy Don Secondary School in Bac Ninh province, was one of only three ninth-grade students nationwide to win a gold medal.
Duc Anh is also among five students selected to represent Vietnam’s grade 9 team at the AIMO final round in Japan to be held in early August 2025.
He recently passed entrance exams into grade 10 mathematics-specialised classes at Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted No. 2 (formerly Bac Giang High School for the Gifted) and the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences (Hanoi) for the 2025-2026 academic year.
