Phung Quang Hung and Than Duc Chinh, both 12th-grade biology majors at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, were among Vietnam's four-member team that secured silver medals, according to the IBO 2026 organizing committee.

The other Vietnamese medalists were Nguyen Thanh An from the High School for Gifted Students under Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and Nguyen Luong Thai Duy from Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

The 37th International Biology Olympiad was held in Lithuania from July 12 to July 19, with the closing ceremony and medal presentation taking place on July 18.

Vietnam's performance at this year's competition highlights the country's continued strength in advanced science education and is expected to encourage more students to pursue scientific research and academic excellence, the organizers said.
