2.5 tonnes of Phuc Hoa early ripening lychee exported to the Middle East

Updated: 22:40, 20/05/2024

BAC GIANG - Global Food Joint Stock Company in Phuong Son commune, Luc Ngan district cooperated with the people’s committee of Phuc Hoa commune, Tan Yen district to harvest the first 2.5 tonnes of fresh lychee on May 19 to export to the Middle East.

After surveying, this company decided to purchase early ripening lychee of Than Van Hanh’s family in Phuc Dinh village. Fresh lychee was cut stalks and leaves and packed in foam boxes at a gross weight ranging from 13 to 15 kilos per each box, then it was brought to the Company for processing and packaging to export to the Middle East on May 20.

The lychees are bought at garden of Nguyen Van Hanh in Phuc Dinh commune.

The lychee garden of Hanh’s family has been grown for 10 years. It is expected to harvest 15 tonnes of early ripening lychee this year sold at a price from 35,000 to 40,000 VND (1.4 to 1.6 USD) per kilo. In order to supply sufficient quantity of goods to the company, he hired 10 workers to harvest and transport lychee from the garden to the gathering place.

According to Nguyen Van Bao, a company’s representative, the company signed consumption contracts with farmers in the lychee growing areas following VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards (including both early ripen and main crop lychee) in large quantity, about 100 tonnes of fresh lychee and 2,000 to 2,500 tonnes of processed lychee for export to the US, Japan, European countries and the Middle East.

2.5 tonnes of Phuc Hoa early ripening lychees are ready to be exported to the Middle East.

This year, many localities suffer from crop failure, thus the purchase price is higher than previous years from 15 to 20 percent. Despite the scarcity of goods, the company still applies the strict testing procedures on the input products. They only purchase safe lychee gardens ensuring quality for export.
