4 Vietnam airports to suspend flights as Typhoon Bualoi approaches

Updated: 08:42, 28/09/2025

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said Saturday that Dong Hoi, Tho Xuan, Phu Bai and Da Nang airports in central Vietnam will halt arrivals during September 28–29 as Typhoon Bualoi nears.

According to CAAV, Dong Hoi in Quang Tri Province will suspend arrivals from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 28; Tho Xuan in Thanh Hoa from 10 p.m. on Sept. 28 to 7 a.m. on Sept. 29; Phu Bai in Hue from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 28; and Da Nang from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 28.

The four airports are forecast to lie in the storm's direct impact zone, with Phu Bai and Da Nang expected to see early gale-force gusts from Bualoi's circulation.

Three northern airports - Noi Bai in Hanoi, Van Don in Quang Ninh, and Cat Bi in Hai Phong - as well as Chu Lai Airport in southern Da Nang are advised to closely monitor updates and take preventive measures.

To ensure flight safety and protect people and property, CAAV has ordered round-the-clock staffing and strict implementation of storm-response procedures across civil aviation operations.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said Saturday afternoon that Bualoi was about 170 km from the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands and is expected to move into waters off Quang Tri–Hue on Sunday afternoon before tracking toward Nghe An–northern Quang Tri with winds of 103–133 kph.

Bualoi swept into the central Philippines on Friday at 35–40 kph, roughly twice the average forward speed of storms, leaving at least 11 people dead.
