Bac Giang boosts up linkage for tourism development in Western of Yen Tu

Bac Giang province has numerous relic sites along the Western side of Yen Tu Mountain, scattering in several districts of Yen Dung, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan and Son Dong which boast linkage potential to popular destinations in other provinces and cities like Ha Long (Quang Ninh province), Con Son – Kiep Bac (Hai Duong province) and others.

Implementing resolutions, plans and projects about tourism development in the province, the districts have concentrated sources to invest in infrastructure and create tourism products together with communication and promotion event to draw visitors.
So far, many local attractions have been popular to travel lovers, typically Vinh Nghiem pagoda, Truc Lam Phuong Hoang Zen Monastery (Yen Dung district); Mo Spring Ecotourism Site, Yellow Water Spring (Luc Nam); Am Vai pagoda, Cam Son lake (Luc Ngan); Tay Yen Tu Spiritual and Ecotourism Complex, Khe Ro primeval forest (Son Dong)…
Luc Nam district invested to build and revamp the landscape at Mo Spring Ecotourism Site in Nghia Phuong commune, Nua Spring in Dong Hung commune …while upgrading and expanding the road to ease the travelers.
For the last 5 years, Vinh Nghiem pagoda has been much restored and revamped by the budget from the central, province and localities as well as socialization source. The woodblock preserving and display building, tree campus, festival yard, entrance gate and other items were built with total cost of over 35 billion VND.
To create key attraction in the tour to discover Tay Yen Tu, Yen Dung district People’s Committee called on investment in 2021 to expand and restore many other relic sites. Apart from spiritual cultural tourism, the district continues encouraging investment to ecotourism and resort.
Accelerating cooperation and linkage
To attract more tourists to Bac Giang, since late 2021, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST) has cooperated with localities to launch many conferences about linkage to develop tourism in the Western of Yen Tu and research to create signature tourism products. They were attended by several prestigious experts, managers and travel agents who opened up various solutions to boost up this sector.

After the events, many travel companies came to the province for actual survey to make specific tour. Particularly from August 1 to October 31, 2022, the Spiritual Journey Alliance (mostly from Hanoi) launches programme “Following the footprint of Buddhist Emperor” with some delegations to visit and experience local destination.
Especially in the middle of August 2022, the provincial People’s Committee issued Plan to implement measures to accelerate regional linkage among Quang Ninh – Bac Giang – Hai Duong in 2022 – 2025 period with various fields. The DoCST in Bac Giang has actively collaborated with the counterpart in two other provinces to proceed cooperative agreement about tourism development in three provinces; hold talk show among authorities and travel companies; build tourism programme under the orientation of “one journey, three destinations”; join hands and share experience in training human resource for this sector.
Bac Giang province strives to setup 5 major tourism spaces by 2025, including Tay Yen Tu tourism space in association with Buddhist journey of Great founders of Yen Tu Truc Lam Zen sect; restoration of relic site under programme “Following the footprint of Buddhist Emperor” as well as ecotourism, resort, leisure in close connection to golf tourism. Tay Yen Tu tourism will be created and promoted to be a trademark of Bac Giang tourism.
The draft project to restore Buddhist journey of Great founders of Yen Tu Truc Lam Zen sect was consulted by the DoCST which totally stretches over 95km passing three districts of Luc Nam, Son Dong and Yen Dung. The journey starts from Vinh Nghiem pagoda to several sites of Hon Thap pagoda, Quang Tuan temple, Hoa pagoda, Rao pagoda, Ba Chua temple, Dam Tri pagoda, Giot waterfall, Nuoc Vang spring (Luc Nam), Dong pagoda (Yen Tu, Quang Ninh).
It is considered the most unique spiritual path in Vietnam, contributing to create special tourism product in associated with sacred land of Tay Yen Tu.
Apart from boosting linkage, from now on till 2025, the provincial People’s Committee directs to expand and upgrade provincial road No.293, cooperate with Quang Ninh province to build connection route from Tay Yen Tu town (Son Dong) to Ha Long city (Quang Ninh) with sufficient mechanism and policies to support investment and development of tourism sites and areas.
