“The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DOARD) has closely grasped situation of the localities to remove obstacle in implementation and directed the forest protection forces to advise the district-level government in reviewing the land fund, build and implement the plans. Besides, the Department recommended issuing documents of the provincial People’s Committee and directly issued several documents of the Department to boost the implementation progress”, according to Ha Minh Quy, DOARD Deputy Director.

Thanks to these efforts, the province planted 5.4 million trees of different types in 2021, reaching 108 percent of the set target. Specially, the province has mobilized fund from the people, organizations and enterprises with about 38 billion VND (1.65 million USD), equivalent to 536.9 percent of the target.

In line with positive results in growing scattered trees, the forestry companies and households proactively implemented the production plans on the allocated forestry land area. As a result, the province planted more than 9,000 hectares of concentrated forests in 2021, reaching 125 percent of the yearly plan and increasing by 12.5 percent compared to the previous year including 58.7 hectares of protective and special-use forests and 8,900 hectares of production forests.

The movement to be continued

This year, the province will grow 6.1 million scattered trees and 130 hectares of protective forests following the implementation plan of the programme on growing 1 billion trees and more than 7,200 hectares of concentrated forests.

In October 2021, DOARD sent a correspondence to request the district-level people’s committees and the managing boards of special-use and protective forests to protect and support growing scattered trees in 2022.

This year, the province will grow 6.1 million scattered trees and 130 hectares of protective forests following the implementation plan of the programme on growing 1 billion trees and more than 7,200 hectares of concentrated forests.

The Department advised the provincial people’s committee with a directive document to implement the programme on growing 1 billion trees combined with the 2022 “Tet-tree planting” campaign in the province.
