Her victories over strong international opponents have strengthened Bac Ninh’s reputation as a producer of promising Olympic-caliber athletes.
Linh’s success is being viewed as a major milestone for the province’s youth sports programme and has raised expectations that she could compete at larger international events, including the Asian Games and the Olympics in the coming years.
Another athlete attracting attention is Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, who captured gold in the women’s 56-kg category at the 11th World Sanda Cup in 2026.
Demonstrating tactical discipline, physical endurance and consistent form throughout the tournament, Thu Thuy secured one of Bac Ninh’s most prestigious international titles in recent years.
In endurance sports, triathlete Pham Tien San added to Bac Ninh’s medal tally by winning gold at the 2026 Asian Triathlon Cup. A veteran competitor, San once again demonstrated his experience and resilience, reinforcing his position among Vietnam’s leading athletes in endurance events.
The successes extend beyond these individual achievements. Since the beginning of the year, Bac Ninh athletes have recorded strong results at national and international competitions across a wide range of sports, including wrestling, athletics, boxing, kickboxing, chess, Chinese chess and judo.
Officials say the broad distribution of achievements reflects the balanced development of the province’s high-performance sports system and the growing professionalism, discipline and competitive spirit of its athletes.
The recent accomplishments are the result of a long-term strategy rather than short-term success. Over the past several years, Bac Ninh has increased investment in sports infrastructure, athlete training and talent development programmes.
Training centres have been upgraded, while nutrition, medical care and training conditions for athletes have gradually improved. The province has also recruited experienced coaches and expanded opportunities for athletes to participate in training camps and competitions both at home and abroad.
Bac Ninh currently develops athletes in a variety of disciplines, with a focus on sports where it has established strengths, including wrestling, wushu, boxing, athletics, weightlifting, fencing, rowing and jujitsu. Many athletes from the province have been selected for Vietnam’s national and youth national teams.
Talent identification also remains a key priority. Sports authorities work closely with local governments and schools to organise student and grassroots competitions, creating a pipeline of young athletes for future elite training programmes.
Alongside technical development, the province has implemented incentive policies aimed at encouraging athletes and coaches. Competitors who achieve outstanding results at national and international events receive recognition and financial rewards, helping to maintain motivation and foster a culture of excellence.
Nguyen Trong Bac, Deputy Director of the Bac Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said international medals not only bring pride to the sports sector but also help promote the image of Bac Ninh as a dynamic and ambitious locality.
Bac Ninh plans to continue investing in facilities, coaching quality and the application of sports science. Authorities will focus on developing young athletes while providing favourable conditions for training and competition in professional environments.
The province aims not only to maintain its success at national tournaments but also to increase the number of athletes competing and winning medals at continental and global events.
Officials say they hope a new generation of Bac Ninh athletes will represent Vietnam at major competitions such as the SEA Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games, further strengthening the province’s growing reputation in international sport.
